I spent a moment with the Muse after weeks of listening to the subconscious whispers of my own memory. The past often overshadows the present, and the future can feel hard to see, but there’s something about actively choosing ourselves that feels like we are showing up for all three.
Recently, that has looked like returning to some basics I admittedly never mastered in my youth such as movement for the sake of movement and intentional hydration. There is true life-giving essence within the essentials that are easy to overlook and I’m already noticing shifts from prioritizing them. As silly as it feels to even mention habits that seemingly come naturally to others, they never really have for me. Years of life have been spent negotiating with my body about what she truly needed. Often choosing shame and punishment where gratitude and care were actually calling.
Last night, choosing myself also looked like remembering my insatiable desire for creation, and giving it attention. This piece, “Weathered,” is what desired to come through. She’s electric, alive in different dimensions, effecting and affected, the same and entirely different.
Cheers to (another) fresh beginning here on this brilliant New Moon. May life bring out the aliveness in you.
